Last Friday night Marc and I went to Fredagsrock in the Tivoli gardens. Fredagsrock is a series of concerts inside Tivoli each Friday of the Summer. You can chose to buy a ticket to see the concert, or you can use your yearly pass to gain access.
Marc and I are both lucky enough to have yearly passes to Tivoli, which means that we can go to any concert that we like throughout this time. We had thought about going a number of times over the last few weeks, but always seem to be deterred for one reason or another – such as the rain or another movie we wanted to see.
But this time we had a compelling reason to go – the featured band was from Sydney, Australia! I’ve known about 5 Seconds of Summer (or 5SoS as the teenie-boppers like to call them) since being in Australia. Seeing as we had the time and it was a beautiful summer day, it felt like it was the right time to give it a go to see 5SoS.
When we first arrived we were baffled to see that there was a huge line-up of teenage girls surrounding the stage fighting for the best spot to see the band. I’m fully aware that girls do that to see their favourite artist, but I didn’t know that this band from Aus was so big overseas!
We had a couple of hours before the concert started so we went for a bit of a wander around the park. There were specials on drinks for the occasion, as well as merchandise of the band on sale. We decided to have a few drinks and some fries as we went for a walk. The rest of the park seemed to be much the same as usual, but that is gorgeous enough by itself.
There were plenty of people around meaning that it was abundant with atmosphere. I had thought that we would be struggling to find a good vantage point for the show, but there seemed to be the perfect balance for us – crowded enough but not so crowded that you were brushing up against the people next to you. As two people who definitely come into the short bracket of the world, this was a major plus because we could actually see what was going on.
The concert itself was also fairly good quality! 5SoS were very good live, as they played their own instruments and actually sang live (which is something that sadly isn’t so common anymore). So just from this one show, I think I can tell that the quality of the acts that Tivoli is able to attract is pretty good.
Here is a little snippet from the show.
I think we will be returning to Fredgasrock again soon!
